Here you can read our policy platform for the upcoming elections. In preparing this platform, special emphasis was placed on dialogue with residents, businesses, and institutions. The platform builds on what is working well, while also setting a clear direction for the future

Our Way in

Municipal Operations

Strong and responsible financial management is the foundation of good services. We intend to increase transparency, improve communication with residents, and enhance efficiency in municipal operations by using technological solutions, setting clear service standards, and continuing to reduce taxes and fees

Our way reduces the burden on residents

  • We will work systematically to strengthen the municipality’s finances so that room is created for further reductions in property taxes.

  • We will review the municipality’s fee schedule, make it clearer, and assess where there are opportunities for changes, especially to reduce charges on residents and businesses.

Our way guarantees a mayor who lives in the municipality

  • The D-list is putting forward a mayoral candidate who lives in the municipality and will provide the municipality with strong leadership.

Our way increases efficiency

  • We will define the services provided by the municipality, including how quickly matters should be processed. We will inform residents about the service standards and regularly monitor whether we are following them.

  • We will simplify processes with digital solutions that shorten processing times, reduce bureaucracy, and improve service and information sharing.

  • We will assess which projects can be handled more efficiently in cooperation with neighboring municipalities, the state, civil society organizations, or private parties.

  • We will explore outsourcing tasks when it delivers better quality or lower cost without weakening oversight.

Our way is based on dialogue

  • We will regularly convene residents’ meetings on major issues and ensure clear information sharing and open dialogue.

  • We will present the municipality’s annual implementation plan, including project status, costs, and priorities.

  • We will place weekly mayoral meeting hours on the mayor’s schedule, both at the office and online as needed.

Our way gives residents more information

  • We will set up a digital service portal for residents where they can submit comments, track the status of cases, receive notifications, and access key information about municipal operations. Implementation of the Voga app will be carried out in phases.

  • Together with the Voga app, the municipality’s website will be one of the municipality’s main information channels. We will update the website for the benefit of residents and the municipal administration.

  • We will publish supporting documents with municipal council minutes and thereby improve residents’ access to municipal data. The goal is to increase transparency and give residents more information so they can hold elected representatives accountable.

  • We will take measures to ensure fast and professional processing of applications and improve oversight of cases so that residents and businesses know the status of their matters and when an outcome can be expected.

We will improve public transport, use the leisure bus, leisure grants, a more varied offering, and more targeted outreach to reach more people.

  • We will advocate for and seek ways to ensure that residents and businesses in Vatnsleysuströnd have access to hot water.
